How I got started:
When I first started having an interest in modeling I was about 12 in the sixith grade. I remember watching ANTM wishing one day I would be on the show. A year later I decided to submit my info to a small agency in Raleigh, NC several days following that, I got a call back and even got selected for the second around to come back and take head shots. When my parents and I finally went back they hit us with a contract and a huge bill that came along with it. Suddenly my parents we're not going with it anymore and every since then I've done my own research to spot out scam agencies from the good ones. After that, I felt very insecure about myself and felt as though becoming a model seemed like only a dream. It wasn't until my sophomore year in high school I decided that it was time to do what I love doing and reached out to a local photographer. We began to work frequently and I even started to create a portfolio for potential agencies to sign me. Fast forward to 2019, I still dream of becoming a successful SIGNED model represented by a good agency such as IMG, Ford, Next, to name a few.
Step 1: If you want to start a modeling career the most important thing you should do is reach out to local photographer's, but make sure the photographer is good at what he/she does. You don't want to create a portfolio with horrible quality photos, and also see what kind of person they are, working with genuinely nice people can help make good connections and bring good vibes on shoot days which are greatly needed.
Step 2: Create a portfolio, your first photo in the book should always be your head shot. its also best to keep no more than 8-10 photos in your portfolio.
Step 3: Practice on your faces and posing in the mirror constantly. You may feel silly at first, but when you get the hang of it, it'll pay off in your photo-shoots.
Step 4: Use social media to your ability to generate a platform and showcase your work (pictures), the most important part about uploading your photo-shoots on platforms such as Instagram and Twitter is to make sure you're using scouting tags such as #weloveyourgenes, #wylg, #Fordmodelnextgen, etc. You could also submit natural photos of yourself to agencies to see if your look is what they are looking for. This step comes with a lot of patience so if your willing to test them out good luck!
Accredible Agencies
